Christian Foundation and Doctrine - Dr. Herbert Sutherland
Whenever we hear the word of truth, the good news of our salvation, believe it and are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, the journey has only just begun. The next step is to be nurtured into living like disciples and this requires knowledge of what we believe. Like newborn babies new believers must now long for the pure milk of the word, that by it growth may take place in respect to salvation. We must know what we should be and could be. Whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction that through perseverance and the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope Romans 15:4 (New American Standard Bible).
The gospel of the kingdom has been documented in both the old and new Testaments for a reason, so that Christians may know the truth and be free to live according to God’s plan and purpose. It is recorded in the New Testament that “16 Every scripture is God-breathed-given by His inspiration- and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction or error and discipline in obedience, and for training in righteousness [that is holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose and action], 17so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.2 Timothy 3:16-17 (Amplified Bible). However, within the scriptures there are some core components (doctrines) that every believer needs to know, understand and obey. It is for this reason that this study has been done.
This study includes but is not limited to, knowledge of salvation, the Kingdom of God the father, Jesus Christ our King, prosperity for all seasons, and the Holy Spirit Comforter.
