High School
Acorn to Oak Community and Youth Services provides a wide range of educational programs
KC Collegiate's mission is to provide alternative education and workplace preparation for youth with unique challenges.
A fully accredited high school, KC Collegiate delivers high calibre
education to young people who require support to overcome barriers to
successfully complete their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
Students have the opportunity for credit recovery and acquisition in a
supportive environment, with the option for vocational and job
training.
As a “centre for excellence,” it provides an environment in
which students can learn at their own pace, with a 1:10 teacher to
student ratio, reinforced in a positive learning atmosphere. The
Collegiate provides opportunities to “challenged” youth by offering
them tailored learning pathways. These learning pathways support all
students, including those with special needs, or “at risk,” as they
seek their post-secondary destination.
The
Collegiate offers the Ontario Curriculum to all students. Programs are
modified and adapted for students with special needs by focusing on
their complete life skills development, with key attention to their
formal education. Each member of our staff is trained and equipped to
provide exceptional educational support and life skills training.
With academic, applied, and workplace stream of courses,
students from grade nine through twelve enter the program when the
traditional school system failed to support their unique needs. They
graduate from the program with the ability to succeed in our unique
world. Each student is then equipped to enter college, university or
the workplace, based on their education, social development and
improved self-confidence.
Student Intervention Program provides academic mentorship for students during High School and College.
Scholarships are made available to individuals who are in
financial need and would not be able to afford to further their post
secondary education. Students are also trained to access other sources
of scholarship and bursaries that are available to them.
